BEC is not only an entertainment company, but we are also a company made up of social entrepeneurs. This means we have embraced our social mission of helping others who are facing negative life situations such as, those who live in the two financial cycles of poverty and living paycheck paycheck. In addition, we are committed to helping those struggling with a healthcare crisis and/or facing a lack of healthy food access. In order to address these life situations, we have created the following fund to bring about positive changes.
(10% of sales from BEC will go to this fund to focus on the following areas)
Poverty means different things to different people, but to us it means the lack of basic necessities. Families and individuals all over the country are experiencing not having enough money to meet basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. We aim to assist those who fall into this category and have struggled to find a way out. Sadly, this is a generational cycle for far too many.
Living from paycheck to paycheck is a financial struggle that causes a burden for many individuals and families. This is also sometimes referred to as the working poor, because without the next paycheck many would fall into further hardship including poverty. We aim to come alongside those who are in this situation and provide financial assistance and strategies for breaking this cycle.
The healthcare crisis in America is no secret to those who are struggling with specific health issues. What makes it a crisis is the fact that millions of people either can't afford quality healthcare, or even with medications they are still suffering with negative effects of having it. We aim to provide assistance with healthcare needs, provide extra support as well as bridge financial gaps.
The leading causes of many health issues are most often rooted in having poor food options. Even if you deal with a health problem, it will only be re-created if dietary habits are not changed. Therefore, we aim to develop and make healthier food options available especially to those who are already struggling to provide food for their families on a daily basis.
Although there are many healthcare issues that contribute to the crisis today, we will focus on Type 2 Diabetes here. To begin with, over 500 million people are plagued with this terrible disease. In fact, this disease has caused a horrendous amount of pain and suffering because of its adverse effects on the body.
Actually, the number of people who suffer from this disease is even larger, because it does not even include those who are undiagnosed. Furthermore, it does not include the family members who have to stand by and watch their loved ones suffer from this disease. There is even more pain associated for the family of those who feel helpless when they have to watch someone they love, go through all the negative effects of diabetes and they can't help them. In addition, those who suffer with this disease have been forced to become members of a club that they had no choice in joining. This is a diabetes club that does not discriminate against anyone. In other words, it doesn't care what color you are or how old you are. It is an inclusive club and not an exclusive club because it wants everybody to join.
This club is so wretched that it has its own doctors who have been trained to deliver a message of hopelessness and helplessness to its club members or patients. These doctors have perpetuated the message of having no cure. This message shows no grace and no mercy, which makes it a very pessimistic message. When this pessimisstic message is taught, it is killing things at the same time it is delivered. It is killing a person's hope for a brighter day, hope for positive changes and hope for a better future.
When a patient leaves a doctor's office with this message they are now hopeless and helpless, which leads them to having a contentment-driven life when it comes to Type 2 Diabetes. A contentment-driven life means you are not going to do anything about this diagnosis of there being no cure. However, you cannot be content when you are in a war. Yes, we are in a war with Type 2 Diabetes, and we have been losing this war!
BEC doesn't want you to continue to lose this war!
Our message is that you should not be content with this message of hopelessness and helplessness! Don't be content with the bad news that they continue to give. We believe we can get to a cure for this terrible disease, but we need a bridge to get there. This is where you come in to help us build a bridge to the cure.
This bridge has to be built in steps, and step one is giving to the cause. When you give, it means you are not content with the bad news of the doctors teaching that there is no cure for Type 2 Diabetes! It means that you are ready to fight back in this war that has been waged against you!
So, if you are suffering from this dreadful disease, know someone who is, or you have seen a family member or someone close to you pass away from complications of this disease, you must join us in this fight by giving to this cause!
Here's what your gift will do:
BEC is fighting back by giving 10% of our sales to this cause! This is how we are joining this war, because diabetes has declared war on us--it's time for us to declare war on diabetes!
